The year is 2030 and the entire Cullen family has left Forks, Washington behind them, making their new home in the towns of Dothan and Mobile, Alabama. This was no decision that was taken lightly. People were beginning to grow suspicious of the never-changing appearance of our favorite vegetarian vampires, and Carlisle was mulling the thought of moving over and over in his mind.
Of course that decision was made for the family the day a tragic car accident shook the minds of the citizens of Forks. A semi truck heading to the nearest grocery store hair pinned the Chief of Police’ cruiser on a slick turn one afternoon in the rain. And just like that Charlie Swan was dead.
Bella’s life shattered, her old habits died hard and a piece of her dormant heart tore apart. Her Father was dead. Now there was no question. It was time to move on. With only the speed of the immortal, the Cullen packed up and moved within the week, leaving all Forks’s human citizens marveling at the disappearance. Then there were those other folks who knew what had happened, though didn’t know where the vampires had gone. The Quileute down at the reservation mourned for Charlie, though needless to say they weren’t as sad when the vampires left town. Some were even bold enough to throw parties, but Jacob was shattered. His one and only love, the little girl who had held him down on the earth had departed with her family. Nessie was gone when he turned up at Edward and Bella’s cottage one morning.
Oh Jacob wouldn’t give up so easily, he swore he would find his little Nessie where ever she was, and even on this little quest of his he wouldn’t go alone. Leah had started to develop feelings she didn’t like about her fellow pack member and newly appointed Alpha. She knew that even if she wanted to, she couldn’t watch Jacob walk away by himself. Even if he would never feel for her, Leah accompanied him in his search and has rarely left her Alpha’s side.
Dothan and Mobile were chosen as the coven’s new home due to the nearly permanent cloud cover and hardly visible sky. This place may never feel like their true home, but the Cullens will cope. Preoccupied with their own feelings of loss, this family hasn’t become aware of the secrets these seemingly innocent towns hold. Large wooden nests have started to appear in the deep Wragg swamps of Mobile, hidden by trees and brush. No one would suspect anything other than an animal den, but no, this is something supernatural.
Newborn vampires are being bred and held under someone’s control in the swamps, living in the nests. Could this be the workings of a new army of the immortal? Whoever is doing this must be skilled to keep it under the eye of the Cullens. Or maybe it’s just that fact that they would never suspect a couple of their nomad ‘friends’.
It’s all fun and games now, but how well will the Cullens react to the unexplained disappearance of humans, a little visit from some old werewolves and the budding sum of newborn vampires? How safe will everyone be when this cozy little swamp darkens at sunset and becomes one of many dangerous SOUTHERN NIGHTS?
