The slamming of the Jeep’s door signaled his arrival at the shopping center. It was a particularly cold day on which Emmett decided to take on this errand. Emmett was many things, but on first glance, one would not assume romantic. Contrary to this assumption, he was rather experienced in this department. The center of his universe, Rosalie, had to be one of the most spoiled wives in existence (if one would call being immortal existing). This errand was all about her. Truly, it was not often that he did something that did not involve her in some way. This trip was particularly important. He was headed to the jewelry store.
Emmett believed that it had been too long since he purchased something shiny for his astonishingly beautiful angel. He wanted to decorate her in the best of the best. Where else would he go besides downtown? Okay, so maybe downtown was not glamorous, but he knew where to look. Pressure had been building within his favorite girl’s mind. He knew just the solution. Anything shiny, pretty, and flattering would do just the trick. At least, Emmett hoped it would. He was not planning any special request or occasion to accompany this gift. In fact, he was hoping to just have her stumble upon it in her room one day. He didn’t have all the logistics figured out yet. His only goal was to acquire a magnificent piece of jewelry.
He coolly walked through the shopping mall. His golden eyes seemed to be glazed over. It was as if he was experiencing tunnel vision. Everything on the outskirts of his sight was blurry. All that Emmett saw or needed to see was ahead of him: the jewelry store. He was very singled minded as his pace began to speed up. This was going to be fun. Emmett did not dread shopping for Rosalie. It was all good fun for him. Each time he was able to create some story or other to tell the sales person. He began to formulate what it would be this time.
Entering the store, Emmett took in a large inhale. Human scents swirled through the air, but not one of them attracted his attention. Everything was Rosalie. He was ready to find the perfect gift. Immediately upon entering, Emmett headed toward the first case straight ahead. Within the case, he viewed dozens of necklaces and earrings. Nothing seemed to tickle his fancy. Everything seemed so dim compared to the beauty of the woman herself. This task was not going to be as easy as Emmett had hoped. He always began errands like these with good intentions and high hopes. Every time. Yet, every time his trip ended up lasting hours. He was not going to cut corners on this one. This present needed to be strong enough to keep his angel happy for a long time. Hm…where to look next.
